What types of employment are most common for Personal Trainers?

Questions about working as a Personal Trainer.

Updated this week

Employment types for Personal Trainers vary depending on the employer and role, just like in other industries. Common forms of employment include:

  • Permanent Employment: A fixed monthly salary.

  • Hourly Compensation: Payment based on hours worked.

  • Hybrid Models: A mix of fixed salary and hourly pay.

Many employers also offer opportunities for trainers to work as consultants through their own businesses, invoicing the employer for hours worked.

Industry Standards in Sweden

In Sweden, most gyms (both large chains and smaller private facilities) typically require Personal Trainers to have completed a program accredited by either EuropeActive or FRISK. Only physical training programs can qualify for FRISK accreditation.

Licenses Generated by Our PT Education Programs

  • Lic. PT Online: EuropeActive accreditation (EQF Level 4 – online).

  • Lic. PT PRO: Dual accreditation with both FRISK and EuropeActive (EQF Level 4).
