Information about course content, pricing, and industry standards.

Updated this week

There are many PT training programs available in Sweden, which can make it challenging to choose the right one. To simplify your decision, we’ve created a guide that highlights important factors to consider when comparing programs. Below is a summary of the key points:

1. Instructor-Led Time

The most valuable aspect of any training program is instructor-led time, but it’s also the most costly for schools to provide. By dividing the total course price by the number of instructor-led hours, you can easily compare the cost per hour. This gives you a clear indication of the level of expertise you’ll gain from each program.

Example: PT PRO offers 182 instructor-led hours, ensuring you gain hands-on experience and direct support from some of the industry’s top trainers. This contrasts with online-only programs, which typically have minimal or no in-person sessions.

2. Your Goals

Your goals will determine which training program is best for you.

• If you’re looking to learn more about fitness for personal interest, or to provide training advice to existing clients in a health and wellness role, an online program (e.g., PT Online) might suffice.

• If you’re planning to switch careers and work as a professional PT, hands-on experience becomes essential. To illustrate this, we often ask:

“If you were choosing a PT for your partner or parent, would you prefer someone who learned to coach via videos or someone with extensive instructor-led training?”

For those serious about a PT career, we always recommend a physically instructor-led program like PT PRO.

Note: If you choose PT Online and later decide to pursue PT PRO, the full amount you paid for PT Online will be deducted from the PT PRO price.

3. The Team of Teachers

Our team includes 25 experts, most of whom are still active, full-time PTs. With over 30 years of experience training PTs in Sweden, we’ve designed our program to maximize your potential by learning directly from industry leaders.

4. Course Options at The Academy

  • PT Online: A flexible, online program ideal for personal interest or those needing a self-paced study option. It includes recorded materials, quizzes, and personal feedback on assignments, along with 15 practice hours to prepare for certification.

  • PT PRO: A hands-on, instructor-led program designed for those committed to a long-term PT career. Available in two formats:

    • Standard: Ten weekends spread over five months, compatible with full-time work or family commitments.

    • Intensive: The same curriculum condensed into five consecutive weeks, Monday to Friday.

In all PT PRO courses, online self studies (PT Online) is done either prior to the start of the course - or throughout the course (prior to each weekend).

5. Industry Licenses / Work qualifications

  • Active Sweden (f.d. FRISK): Required by most major gym chains in Sweden, this national PT-license ensures you meet the highest industry standards. PT PRO is accredited by Active Sweden.

  • Europe Active (EREPS) : Our program includes certification for the European Register of Exercise Professionals, enabling you to work internationally.

6. Study Materials

Our study materials are evidence-based, interactive, and continuously updated. The custom-designed portal includes videos, 3D animations, quizzes, and more, making learning engaging and effective.

7. Job Opportunities

The demand for qualified PTs has grown significantly in recent years. 9 out of 10 students secure employment before completing their training. Most gym chains require a license accredited by Active Sweden, which PT PRO provides.
