Over the years, we’ve seen several websites that present themselves as independent comparison platforms but are closely tied to specific providers. While not all such sites have been discontinued, we’d like to share tips on how to identify genuinely independent sites and how to compare programs effectively on your own.
How can I tell if a site is truly independent?
It’s not always easy to determine if a site is linked to a particular provider, but the following tips can help:
Does the site link to all the schools it mentions, or only/mostly to one specific school?
Does it describe one school in much greater detail than the others?
Do you receive significantly more detailed information about one school compared to others?
Who owns the site? Is there a connection to one of the schools? (You can check ownership details via the Swedish Internet Foundation here).
If the answer is “yes” to any of these questions, it’s best to treat the site as promotional and conduct your own comparison between the schools you’re considering.
