Information about the internship period during PT PRO.

Updated this week

Lärarledd Praktik

In the PT PRO schedule, you’ll find a session called “Lärarledd Praktik” toward the end of the course. This day provides a unique opportunity for you to train your first clients in a supportive environment with instructors available to answer any questions you may have during the session.

During this session, the class is divided into two groups, with a double set of instructors. After an introductory meeting:

  • Group 1 begins by training their first of two clients, while

  • Group 2 shadows a classmate and completes assigned tasks given by the instructor.

After lunch, the groups switch roles, allowing everyone to train two clients and shadow another.

You’ll receive information about your group and scheduled training times in advance so you can find your own clients (these can be friends, family, or others interested in training with you once you’re certified). If you have trouble securing clients for this session, contact us, and we’ll help by sharing open slots via our channels.

Requirements for the Instructor-Led Internship

  • You must be insured through your free student insurance with KRY. If you haven’t applied for this yet, it’s essential to do so as soon as possible.

  • Complete and pass the assignments in the “Internship” chapter of the PT Online materials before attending.

Praktik

After the Lärarledd Praktik, you’ll begin your personal internship, a critical and transformative part of your training. This is where you’ll:

  • Apply all the knowledge and skills learned during the program.

  • Lay the foundation for the type of Personal Trainer you aspire to be.

Internship Requirements

  • The internship starts with the Lärarledd Praktik-session and must be completed by the Friday before your examination.

  • You need to complete 15 training sessions with clients. Ideally, these sessions should include at least five different individuals to gain a mix of new and returning clients.

  • The aim is to practice all aspects of the PT profession, from client acquisition to program design, training, and progression.

Mentorship During Internship

When you inform us of the gym where you’ll conduct your internship, you’ll be assigned a mentor from our instructor team. Your mentor will:

  • Provide feedback on each client session.

  • Review your training plans, which you upload via the Student Portal (PRAKTIK: KLIENT 1-15).

  • Respond within 72 hours, allowing you to use the feedback for your next session.

Be sure to inform your clients that this is part of your internship and that you’ll be sharing your documentation with your mentor.

Internship Locations

Your internship can be an excellent way to kickstart your PT career. Performing your internship at the gym where you intend to work allows you to begin building a client base before you officially start.

Different Scenarios

  • You Already Have a PT Job Lined Up:

    • Congratulations! Contact your future employer to confirm if you can complete your internship at their facility.

  • You Have a Preferred Gym in Mind:

    • Apply for a position at that gym to align your internship with your career goals. Contact details for our partner gyms can be found on the PARTNERS page of our website.

  • You Need Help Finding an Internship Location:

    • Through our partnership with Fitness 24 Seven, you can apply to complete your internship at one of their locations in Sweden. Submit your application via the Student Portal for the best chance of securing your desired location.

  • You’ve Arranged Your Own Internship Location:

    • Excellent! Just provide us with the following details (via "Mina val" in the Student portal):

      • Name and location of the gym.

      • Contact details for the responsible person at the gym (required for EuropeActive verification if necessary).

      • Internship period and schedule.

Common Questions About the Internship

  • What does the gym need to provide?

    • The gym needs to approve your internship and share the contact details of a responsible person for EuropeActive compliance.

    • They should explain any relevant routines (e.g., access cards, gym hours, storage, attire requirements).

    • They are not expected to provide clients or assist with training techniques.

  • How do students find clients?

    • During the program, students are extensively trained in sales, marketing, and communication. Offering free training sessions typically attracts interest from gym members, creating a great start to a PT career.

  • Who can the gym contact for questions?

Good luck with your internship! Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
